Tactics[]
Ryouzan led by coach Minukuchi, plays a 4-3-1-2 Formation with Ikariya as the only playmaker. They also have good players both in the bench and in the stands which shows their difference in level and their status as the Number 1 high school team in Japan.
The three key players are: The MVP of the InterHighs, Kazuhiko Katou, Japan's treasure, Ryousuke Ikariya; and finally the most dangerous and considered the best fullback in the history of Japanese High School Soccer, Marco Takagi, with Ikariya and Katou being Japan U18 representatives.
Ryouzan's most solid foundation is their "3 Piece Middle " which involves the 2 main center-backs, Seto and Shimura, and also the most valuable player of the IH,Kazuhiko Katou. Their "Two-Piece Tactic" involves Seto man-marking since his best trait is his strong One to One and if he was to get past, Shimura, with his high skill to cover, would follow right away and make the interception with Katou providing support as a "Third Piece".
Ryouzan's main trademark is their crossing ability and accuracy, which lies in Takagi's ability to overlap and cross the ball into the middle. This seems to be the main reason Ryouzan defeated Touin in the Summer Interhigh Semifinal.
